Never Forget Al Duhr
On May 6, 2017 Mel’s Charities lost a dear friend Al Duhr. Mel had the pleasure of meeting Al through his nephew Kevin Taylor and by playing countless Land O’ Lakes baseball games vs his sons Paul & David.
Al, was a very generous financial supporter of our mission and enjoyed annually attending our Pig Roast and golf outing.
Whenever we asked Al if he would like to be recognized, he politely declined and said “No need to put my name on a banner, I love what Mel’s represents, just keep having fun and doing what you are doing”.That is what we loved about Al, help others before self and without any fanfare.
At his celebration of life, his family’s wishes were that all memorial donations be made in his name to Mel’s Charities. We received $5,000+ from all over the Country. Al Duhr has provided us the means to impact so many more lives in Ozaukee County.
When his wife Peggy and family heard about the Match for Mel’s Campaign, they were touched by the story of the couple who believed in Mel’s Charities but wanted to remain anonymous. They stated that Al would have loved this and would have wanted to be part of it.
The Duhr family has made a matching donation of $10,000 in his memory. Mel’s Charities and this community will Never Forget Al Duhr.
